About Chemical Peel

Chemical peels are one of the oldest, most studied, and most reliable cosmetic treatments — and at quality clinics, still one of the most underused. The mechanism is straightforward: a controlled concentration of acid (glycolic, lactic, salicylic, TCA, or combination formulas depending on depth) is applied to the skin, breaking the bonds between dead and damaged surface skin cells so they slough off in the days following. Underneath, fresh skin emerges with smoother texture and more even tone.

We offer light, medium, and deep peels at our Newmarket clinic, customized to your specific skin type, concerns, and tolerance. Light peels are an excellent monthly maintenance treatment with virtually no downtime; medium peels produce more dramatic results with 5 to 7 days of visible peeling; deep peels are reserved for specific concerns and require longer recovery.

Chemical peels pair particularly well with microneedling on alternating cycles — peels work top-down (resurfacing the upper layers), while microneedling works bottom-up (stimulating collagen at depth). For a comparison framework, see our [chemical peel vs microneedling guide](/blog/chemical-peel-vs-microneedling).
